Cricket is definitely one of the most long-lasting, traditional sports that have been played and developed throughout the history. Some former types of cricket had been quickly developed and spreading among many sports lovers community. Cricket’s origin is known to be South England. It used to be the most favorite sport among many members of peasant families located in East South England.
Before the first Cricket World Cup being held
The first international official cricket plays have been taken place with the participation of Canada and the USA on the 24th and 25th, September 1844. After that event, there have been different trial cricket plays being held. Cricket was also officially taken into account as an Olympic field of competition in the 1900 Olympic being taken place in Paris. At that event, England National Cricket Team successfully defeated French National Cricket Team to win the gold medal. This was the first and last time cricket appearing in the Summer Olympic.
The first cricket tournament at the international level which involved different nations was the one being held in 1913, the trial one with the participation of 3 different nations including England, Australia, and South Africa.
Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be a successful one as the weather condition in summer was especially wet, which made it hard to play cricket. The number of spectators turning up at that event was also not high. Since then, the International Cricket Trial Tournament has often between held just between 2 nations. The number of nations which have taken part in this tournament had also climbed gradually. However, these cricket matches were often held during the period of 3,4 or 5 days.
In the first years of the 1960s, some England cricket teams began to play an abridged version of cricket which a match only lasted 1 day.
