May 25, 2020

Being offered a remarkably low amount of salary while all cricket tournaments and plays had come to an end, cricket players can be the dupable targets for some bribe takers who make a living on match score fixing for the upcoming matches.

  •  AFP extracts the statement of Alex Marshall – the leader of The anti-corruption Unit of International Cricket Council (ICC) said, even nowadays, many cricket plays have come to a halt impermanently due to the outbreak of virus corona, however, the risk of corruption still exists as many bribe takers still try to make contact with some cricket players to lure them into fixing matches, which have all been set up the score before the ball rolling.
  • “Covid-19 can turn many international and national cricket matches all over the world into the “frozen” stage, however, many bribe takers still keep on their activies. As a result, we are still on our way of collaborating and working with members, players, councils and other cricket clubs.”, Mr. Marshall said in an interview with The Guardian.
  • Mr. Marshall also added more detailed information that the anti-corruption Unit is now realizing that because of the dramatic decrease in income because of the cancellation of different plays and tournaments can lead to the vulnerability of cricket players, make them harder to keep themselves transparently from involving in match fixing deals from sophisticated bribe takers. “It can be seen that these bribe takers are making use of this sensitive time for different approaches to professional players. At this present, players do not have to meet each other to practice or compete, therefore, they try to make connection with these players. who are thriving for earning more money and try to establish a large community for making dirty profit together.”
