Reliance Cup
This 1987 tournament also played an important part in setting the foundation for nowadays tournament as it was the first time World Cup took risk to be held in other new regions out of England. Taking place in India and Pakistan, the 1987 version was sponsored by Reliance, therefore, the cup was called the Reliance Cup.
World Cup Benson & Hedges
These 1990s have witnessed the quick development of the World Cup when it succeeded in taking place in many new regions and in the 1992 season taking place in Australia and New Zealand, Pakistan is the new champion.
In the 5th season, 9 teams, instead of 8 teams as the previous season, competed to seek for the final winner. Being sponsored by Benson and Hedges, the champion cup of World Cup was made of pure crystal and is known as Benson and Hedges Cup. This is also the one and only champion cup that was not made of metal, being offered in such a special cricket tournament in which the playing uniform turned from white to colorful and the competing ball was white.
World Cup Wills
Being held in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the 1996 tournament was known as the World Cup Wills. There were 12 national cricket teams took part in the championship and Sri Lanka was the champion of this year.
The World Cup Championship ICC
At the beginning of the 21st century, the Cricket World Cup tournament turned into the 7th season. At this time, the international cricket council decided to organize the one and only permanent Cup for these cricket tournaments, which is nowadays, known as ICC World Cup Championship.
Being designed and made by some architectures from Garrand and Co, located in London (which is also known as Crown Jewelers), the present cup is made of gold and silver.
